Third Annual Spring Multi-Sport Symposium
Once again Dearborn Health is proud host, in conjunction with the Waterloo Cycling Club and Runners' Choice, the 3rd annual Spring Multi-Sport Symposium.
The Symposium is a one day event designed to promote Multi-sport and provide a forum whereby athletes of any level with a desire to learn would have access to expert resources in the fields of training and racing, mind, body and equipment technology.
Tickets are available at Runners' Choice Waterloo and Dearborn Health or reserved by phone 519-884-4848. Admission is $5 advance or $8 at the door. 100% of ticket sales will be donated to POGO (Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario through a fundraising organization called Race4Kids www.race4kids.ca. Tickets are good for draw prizes all donated by our generous sponsors most notably Saucony, Rudy Project, Nineteen Wetsuits, Infinit Nutrition Canada, Polar, CLIFF, Ziggy's Cycle, Rolling Thunder Canada and Ciclo Werks.

Steve Fleck - Wet Suits & Wet Suit fit
Steve is the North American Sales & Marketing Manager for Nineteen Wetsuits. He has been heavily involved in triathlon for 25 years and is a freelance writer for Triathlete Magazine, Inside Triathlon and Xtri.com. He also acts as a Coach/Advisor to Triathletes/Runners/Cyclists.
Adam Johnston - Exploring the Athlete - Coach Relationship
Adam Johnston, an experienced triathlete has been involved in distance running and triathlon since 1995. He has completed dozens of marathons and triathlons, including Ironman. At the University of Waterloo he studied kinesiology, and he has trained and worked in Australia and New Zealand. Founder of the Endurance Lab in 2003, Adam's athlete's have qualified for and completed the ITU Elite World Championships, ITU Age Group World Championships, Elite National Championships, Ironman Hawaii (both age group and elite), and the Boston Marathon.
Zach Weston - Optimizing cardiovascular and anaerobic training: VO2 max, Threshold and Heart Rate - what this information means
Zach Weston is a Kinesiology graduate of the University of Waterloo. He is Certified with the Ontario Kinesiology Association, the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology and the American College of Sports Medicine. He has worked in the health and fitness field for over 10 years. He has researched, published and presented at numerous international exercise physiology conferences including the American College of Sports Medicine and Canadian Cardiology Congress annual meetings. Zach continues to teach Professor of Kinesiology at Wilfrid Laurier University within the Faculty of Science and Department of Kinesiology.
Brian Keast - Beyond the Physical - Other Ingredients for Success
Brian is the Two-Time Hawaiian Ironman 45-49 Age Group World Champion ('05, '06) and AG Course Record Holder ('05). Brian has represented Canada at over 20 World Championships including 12 Hawaiian Ironmans as well as the inaugural ITU Duathlon World Championship, inaugural XTerra World Championship, and 1990-96 ITU World Triathlon Championships. He has competed in 200+ multisport events since 1984.
Richard Pady - Balancing Training & Life
Richard is a certified Triathlon Coach, Personal Trainer, and Lifestyle and Weight Management Consultant to athletes around the World. He has been in the sport of triathlon for 18 years competing in five World Championships and many Ironman events as a professional. Richard studied Kinesiology and Psychology at the University of Western Ontario and has 12 years of coaching and personal training experience. Richard's coaching company is called Healthy Results Training (www.healthyresults.ca) and his proven formula for success has resulted in 96% of his athletes reaching their pre set goals. Richard is the founder of Race 4 Kids, an organization dedicated to raising money to help families with children who have cancer.
Darcy Haggith - Nutrition for the Endurance Athlete
Darcy has worked in the Pharmaceutical/Health and Nutritional businesses for more than 15 years, with expertise in microbiology, Quality Assurance and Operations. Darcy has held middle and senior level management positions leading Teams in the production of high quality products for the likes of Proctor & Gamble and Pfizer. Darcy is a 5-time Ironman Finisher with a PR of 10:45. He also has completed 6 stand alone marathons including his most recent this year at Boston. He is currently training for his sixth Ironman.
Tereza Macel - 'Working on a Weakness'
Tereza is a professional triathlete, having recently turned from short course, draft legal racing to the Ironman. 2005 marked Tereza's first foray into Ironman racing, and she completed Ironman USA, Hawaii, and Florida (where she finished fourth overall)! 2006 saw Tereza climb even higher in Ironman racing, completing and placing in the top 6 of each of the following: Ironman Arizona, Ironman Germany, and a first place pro women finish at Ironman Korea.
