Final Standings for the 2007 Canadian Cyclist Fantasy Tour - Sponsored by Specialized

After a Tour de France that saw more plot changes than a soap opera, we have finally finished calculating the final standings for the Canadian Cyclist Fantasy Tour - Sponsored by Specialized.

Our grand prize winner - who takes home an S-Worlds Tarmac SL2 frameset (the same frame used by Points Jersey winner Tom Boonen) worth $3999.99 - is Darcy McCardle, with a total of 390 points. Darcy's winning squad:

Alexandre Vinokourov (Kaz) Astana: -14 points
Andreas Kloden (Ger) Astana: 2 points
Alejandro Valverde Belmonte (Esp) Caisse d'Epargne: 27 points
Levi Leipheimer (USA) Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team: 35 points
Cadel Evans (Aus) Predictor - Lotto: 37 points
Michael Rasmussen (Den) Rabobank: 74 points
Tom Boonen (Bel) Quickstep - Innergetic: 109 points
Alberto Contador Velasco (Esp) Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team: 67 points
Fabian Cancellara (Sui) Team CSC: 53 points

He also chose Astana for his team pick, but of course received no points there.

Second place was won by Ian DeWolfe with 385 points, and Ian receives from Specialized a pair of Arc Optics worth $279.99 . In third was Ryan Turner at 376 points, winning a new Specialized 2D helmet worth $249.99. Fourth was taken by Matt Bonin with 370 points, who gets a Specialized Toupe Saddle worth $179.99, and fifth (with an identical 370 points, but a later registration time stamp) is "Carol", who receives a choice of S-Works Mondo or All Condition tires worth $179.99.

Just some comments about the final calculation:

- Tom Boonen (QuickStep-Innergetic), who won the Points Jersey, paid out double points because of the Specialized Rule.

- Alexandre Vinokouov (Astana) received -20 points due to the Landis Rule, as did Iban Mayo (Saunier Duval-Prodir) and Cristian Moreni (Cofidis). Vinokourov also lost the stage win points he received for Stage 16 (moving Kim Kirchen (T-Mobile) up to 1st).

- Michael Rasmussen (Rabobank) received -5 points as an "abandon" after his team abruptly fired him.

- All members of Cofidis and Astana received -5 points after their teams withdrew from the race.

We want to thank all the players who participated in our 2007 Fantasy Tour, and particularly thank Specialized Canada, who provided the fantastic weekly and overall prizes.
