Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå has extended her contract with the Multivan Merida Biking Team and is going to compete in the colours of her longterm racing team for another four years. She will have been racing over 11 years for Multivan Merida Biking Team.

The 35 year old current mountain bike marathon world champion, Dahle Flesjå is the world's most successful mountainbiker. She is planning to return to her role as serial winner in the World Cup. Apart from her focus on the Olympic distance races, Dahle Flesjå also plans to defend her title as world marathon champion. For the first time she will count on a fully suspensioned mountainbike: In 2009 she will compete in most of the races on an Merida Ninety-Six.

In the coming years the eight time world champion Dahle Flesjå will probably reach a historic mark: With her 26 World Cup victories she is now extremely close to American Juliana Furtado's record of 28 victories. It is realistic that Dahle Flesjå will soon once again rewrite mountain bike history.

With this longterm contract, the team management shows its way for the coming years. "Thank our sponsors we can plan with longterm perspectives. That gives us and our athletes a lot of security and confidence. The new four year contract shows our longterm perspectives. Gunn-Rita had her greatest victories with our team und we are very happy to have her another four years with us," explains team manager Andreas Rottler.

Editor's Note: Norwegian news sites are reporting that Dahle Flesjå will be paid one million Euros over her four contract.
