Tour de France Stage 6

A break of four riders went clear at kilometre 74 in this sixth stage. The four were; Francois Simon (Credit Agricole), Francisco Cerezo (Vitalicio), Frederic Guesdon (FDJ) and Gilles Maignan (Casino). They managed to extend their lead to a maximum of 8:20 before the peleton began to reel them in. The breakaways were caught with 8 kilometres to go, setting the stage for a field sprint. Tom Steels (Mapei Quick Step) took his third stage of the this years Tour, edging Mario Cipollini (Saeco-Cannondale) and Erik Zabel (Deutsche Telekom). No change to GC. Results to follow.
