Breakaway Cycling Race Day,  Windsor Nova Scotia

Breakaway Cycling hosted the Breakaway Race Day, 3-stage cycling race Sunday August 15th. More than 50 athletes competed in six different categories in hot conditions. The day started with a short time trial, followed by a road race, and finishing the day with a very difficult hill climb.

In the Elite A category, Jamie Lamb of Cyclesmith, Halifax, made up for a 51 second deficit in the time trial with a big win in the road race and second place in the final hill climb stage to take the overall title by only 31 seconds over teammate Dustin MacBurnie. Kris Barr of Hub Cycle, Truro, came in 3rd, only 51 seconds behind the winner.

Shannon Read of Valley Stove & Cycle won the female category by over Independents Caryn Nagge who finished 2:55 behind and time trial winner Laura McPhee who was 11:17 behind overall.

In the B category, Ambrose Delaney of FrameWork Racing, Sydney won both the time trial and the hill climb, and was second in the road race, finishing first overall by 48 seconds over road race winner Stephen Cameron of Cyclesmith. Rob Klue of Cyclesmith finished third overall 1:18 behind the winner.

Dennis Cottreau of Sea Level Cycling in Yarmouth, won the C category by 50 seconds over Wayne Aspinall of Valley Stove & Cycle. Tim Brooks of FrameWork Racing was third overall, 1:06 behind the winner.

Independent rider, Jean-Marie Cormier won all three stages in the D category. Graham Oakley of Sea Level Cycling was second in all three stages, finishing 1:11 behind, while Independent Stacey Tayler was third in all three stages, finishing 5:20 back.

Jordan Oakley of Bluewater Cycling in Yarmouth won the Junior division, beating the hill climb winner, Luc Comeau of Cyclesmith by 2:19 overall and Odette Comeau of Cyclesmith by 7:28.
