Good morning and welcome to our live updates from Nove Mesto Na Morave World Cup in the Czech Republic.

 

The Elite women will do a start loop (3.2 km) and 6 laps (4.2 km)

U23 Women will do start loop and 5 laps (4.2 km)

 

It is a beautiful sunny day after a few days of rain and overcast skies.

 

Missing top riders from the start are: Annika Langvad (4th) , Maja Wloszzowska (7th) and Chengyuan Ren  (15th)

Mary McConneloug (Kenda/Seven/NoTubes) has started despite her recent diagnosis of Lyme disease. She says she feels good and has another week of antibiotic shots to undergo in her treatment. 

 

Marie-Helene Premont (Team Maxxis - Rocky Mountain) will be on a 29er for the first time.

 

A 5 minute  delay to start to get TV up and running.  18 TV cameras on course.

 

Local Katerina Nash (Luna Pro Team) won her 1st National XC ski title on this course

 

Start loop

 

Julie Bresset (BH - Suntour - Peisey Vallandry) has the lead on the start loop being chased by Eva Lechner (Colnago Farbe Sudtirol)

Catharine Pendrel (Luna Pro Team) and Marie-Helene Premont (Team Maxxis - Rocky Mountain) are back

 

Lap 1

Bresset goes through with a 9 second gap on Lechner.  Pendrel 3rd at 15 sec back.  Nathalie Schneitter (Colnago Farbe Sudtirol) 4th at 16 sec.  Katie Compton (Rabobank - Giant Off-Road Team) 5th at 16 sec, Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjaa (Multivan Merida Biking Team) the new European champ 6th at 20 sec.

Premont 10th at 28 sec, Emily Batty (Subaru - Trek) 11th at s.t.

Pendrel and Bresset now together at the front.  LEchner 3rd, Compton 4th

Batty 12th and Premont 13th

 

Pendrel has passed Bresset after Bresset fumbled in a technical bit of single track.

 

A large portion of the lap is singletrack and in the woods.  Not a lot of places to pass

Bresset heads to the end of lap 1

 

Lap 2

Bresset heads out onto lap 2 with a 16 sec gap on Pendrel.  Lechner 3rd at 28 sec, Dahle 4th at 42 sec, Kalentieva 5th at 43 sec, Annie Last (GBr) British National Team 6th at 53 sec, Premont 7th at 57 sec, Schneitter 8th at 1:07, Batty 9th at 1:09, Compton 10th at 1:18

Bresset, Pendrel at 15 sec, Lechner at 22 sec

Kalentieva has passed Dahle to move into 4th @ 30 sec, and is moving up on Lechner in 3rd

 

 

U23 women

Pauline Ferrand Prevot (Lapierre International) is leading Yana Belomoyna (Infotre - Bi & Esse - Leecougan) and Barbara Benko (Focus MIG Team)

 

Elite women

Kalentieva has caught Lechner

 

Lap 3

 

Bresset heads out onto the 3rd lap and Prendrel is sitting 2nd at 18 sec.  Kalentieva has now taken over 3rd and she and Lechner cross together at 50 sec.  Dahle 5th at 1 min.  Premont 6th at 1:23, Last 7th at 1:23, Batty 8th at 1:40

Amanda Sin 40th at 5:56 back

 

Pendrel is working hard to close the gap on Bresset.

Bresset has again fumbled in a technical section and Pendrel has caught and passed to take over the lead.

 

Lechner has taken back 3rd spot, forcing Kalentieva to chase

Pendrel has put a large gap (20 sec?) on Bresset

Kalentieva has now passed Lechner for 3rd spot

 

Bresset is having trouble in teh technical sections and has crashed

Pendrel heading to the end of the 3rd lap

 

Lap 4

Pendrel, Bresset 2nd at 28 sec, Kalentieva 3rd at 1 min.  Dahle 4th at 1:21,  Lechner 5th (she crashed at bridge) at 1:33, last 6th at 1:48, Premont 7th at 2:07, Batty 8th at s.t.

Sin 39th at 8:02

 

Bresset in 2nd seems to have lost her concentration and continues to lose time to Pendrel.  Kalentieva now 3rd and is working on the gap to 2nd place...

Lap 5

Pendrel hits the line and heads out onto the 5th lap

Bresset crosses at 34 sec. Kalentieva 3rd at 1 min

Dahle 4th at 1:45, Lechner 5th at 2:02, last 6th at 2:09, Batty 7th at 2:31, Lea Davison (Specialized Racing) 8th at 2:46, Premont 9th at 2:50

Pendrel now solidly in the lead.  Bresset in second but not gaining any ground

Pendrel heads to the line

 

Lap 6 last lap

Pendrel hits the line to start the last lap. Bresset crosses at 36 sec back

Kalentieva 3rd at 1:33, Dahle 4th at 2:13, Lechner 5th at 2:18, Last 6th at 2:33

Davison and Batty together 7th and 8th at 3:04

Premont 9th at 3:22

 

U23 women have completed Lap 4

Yana Belomoyna (Infotre - Bi & Esse - Leecougan) leading Barbara Benko (Focus MIG Team) at 1:16, Pauline Ferrand Prevot (Lapierre International) 3rd at 1:51
