So now that Mark Cavendish has won the British Sports Personality of the Year (SPOTY) award, we can move on to the more important question: who will win the 15th annual Canadian Cyclist of the Year awards?

The voting is very strong this year, and has already surpassed the total votes cast in 2010 with five days remaining. In the Woman of the Year balloting, Mountain Bike World Champion Catharine Pendrel continues to lead. It will take a significant surge by Track Omnium World Champion Tara Whitten to overtake her. Clara Hughes is challenging Whitten for second place.

In the Man of the Year competition there is still a three way race for the title. Tour de France rider Ryder Hesjedal continues to lead, however, right behind are Downhill pro Steve Smith and double national road champion Svein Tuft. Smith and Tuft are tied in second place.

In the Individual Performance competition, Pendrel's world championship ride leads, followed by Whitten's Omnium world championship performance. However, Downhill bronze medalist Claire Buchar continues to hold onto the third and final spot in the awards which will be handed out. Buchar is just ahead of Hesjedal for his third place in stage 16 of the Tour, and David Boily's second place in the Tour de l'Avenir.

Voting closes on December 28th. Cast your vote Today!
