TDV Team prepares for Volunteer Rally

The Ryder Hesjedal’s Tour de Victoria (TDV) is looking for enthusiastic people to join the Island Savings Volunteer Crew on June 24, 2012 for Canada’s premiere cycling event.

Get in on the action and join hundreds of other volunteers for a full day of excitement and fun in the community. The TDV team has a number of volunteering opportunities that are available for all ages. Volunteer positions include: road marshall, course marking, swag bag crew, registration team, feed zone team, and many others. Cycling experience is not required.

"We have had incredible volunteers working with us up until this point, but we still have some critical spots to fill," said Trish Duncan, Volunteer Chair for the TDV Organizing Committee. "The volunteers act as the fuel to run this amazing event and with under two months to go, we’re really hoping to fill all of the remaining positions in the upcoming weeks."

Volunteer Rally, May 12, 2012
– The Tour de Victoria is celebrating volunteers - past and present - at a special event on Saturday, May 12 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Save On Foods Memorial Centre. The afternoon will feature, games, prizes, food, and an opportunity to mingle with your fellow ‘Crew’ members.

The Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame will also be unveiling a permanent display for ‘The Cycling History of Victoria: 1885 – 2012’. This will include a restored Torchy Peden bicycle and a bicycle used by the internationally-acclaimed Ryder Hesjedal in the 2011 Tour de France.

• All volunteers that sign up for the TDV will be entered into a draw for a Ryder Hesjedal signed Team Garmin jersey that he wore in the Tour de France.

• Volunteers must attend the rally to receive the prize.

• Anyone who is interested in volunteering is asked to register at www.tourdevictoria.com or at the volunteer rally.
