Now that spring is here and the roads are clear, use the 2nd Annual Val Bremner Memorial MS Summer Relay to start off your cycling season with a bang!

Beginning out of Ponsonby Recreation Park in Ariss, northwest of Guelph you will have the opportunity to partake in this amazing event on June 7th that rides and runs along the country roads of Wellington County.

The event isn't over after the race though, enjoy music, a Pancake Breakfast and delicious Lunch with a cold beer (provided at no charge for registered participants), a game of horseshoes or baseball, and prizes to celebrate the life of Val and your amazing accomplishments of completing the Val Bremner Memorial MS Summer Relay.

The Val Bremner Memorial MS Summer Relay was started by Guelph resident Paul Richardson in support of his long time friend Val Bremner. Val was a mother, a daughter, a wife, and a beautiful young women with a bright future when she was diagnosed with an aggressive strain of multiple sclerosis.

Val took that diagnosis and made the most of her life as her abilities were gradually stripped away. The slow erosion of capacity was like a thief in the night, taking away dimensions of her life slowly and surely. In all the years she never once complained about her lot in life and every time she would lose the capacity for one thing, she would seek out another in its place. She made the best of every stage. If you knew Val you knew her humor was her best ally, it gave her the ability to relate to people even when she was confined to a bed.

Val made a huge impact on every life she touched. As the disease progressed, no matter how difficult, she handled every stage with courage and grace. Val passed away on July 26, 2013 and has left a huge void in the lives of her family and friends. She would want her legacy to be one of service, service towards a cure, service towards helping others manage to live the best life they can with such a cruel and debilitating disease.

All funds raised will go towards our mission of supporting people living with MS in our community and towards research to find the cure. So join us in our fight to END MS, and help us help someone living with MS.

Let's run and ride with courage and confidence. If you think that a run or ride is a big challenge, think of Val and people like her. You will be surprised at what you can do!

You won't want to miss this fun filled day of competition and camaraderie! Make it a team event by bringing friends, co-workers, and family along with you.
