Intersports/Vanguard Team Update

We have been waiting for an update on the Intersports team for quite some time, but it looks like things are not going too well. The team has lost their manager Kathleen Miller before the season even started, and still has not signed a contract with their sponsors at last report. Apparently French former world champion Catherine Marsal signed with them and is now looking for a new ride. Some team members are still trying to pull something together, but nothing has been signed at this time. Canada may end up with no women's road teams at this rate...

After an 11 year hiatus, and this summer's return to competitive road cycling and cyclocross, Ontario Master B racer Bob Tysen (Multi Laser Racing)was a realtive unknown at the US National Marathon Speed Skating Championships held January 13th and 14th in Hanover New Hampshire.Holding dual citezenship, Bob captured the title in the 40-49 age group in both the 25km and 50km distances held on natural ice on Lake Marley.

(Editor's Note: Bob was a member of the Canadian squad I took to the first 'unofficial' World Mountain Bike Championships in Mammoth, California in 1987)
