March 31/24 9:19 am - Ontario, Quebec & BC Win Titles on Day 2 of Junior/U17/Para Track Nationals

Day 2 of the Junior/U17/Para Track Championships saw 12 more titles awarded on Saturday at the Bromont velodrome. Beginning with the Elimination, Ontario riders took three out of four titles, in U17 women (Eve Buczkowski - Attack Racing), U17 Men (Jake Mclean - Liftow p/b KW Cycling Academy) and Junior Women (Nora Linton - Attack Racing). Only Jonathan Hinse (Equipe du Quebec) was able to stop the sweep with his win in Junior men. Hinse received a warning for lifting both hands off the bars as he crossed the finish line.

The Para riders competed in the Individual Pursuit, with recent Para Track Worlds silver medalist Alexandre Hayward (Team New Brunswick) winning the C3 men's title. Lachlan Hotchkiss (Team Ontario) won the C4 men's title, and first time competitor Carlos Mauricio Uricoechea won in C5 men. In the Men's Tandem, the team of Matthieu Croteau Daigle and his pilot Olivier de la Durantaye of Equipe du Quebec became national champions.

The final titles of the day were awarded in the Sprint competitions. Lili Salonen-Berscht (Milton Revolution CC) beat Sandrine Veilleux (Equipe du Quebec) for the U17 women's title, with West Pollock (Cycling BC) beating teammate Amos Scott Bouris in U17 men. Cycling BC also took the Junior women's title, with Tendo Mukahanana beating Mercedes Tanguay (Equipe du Quebec). The Junior men's jersey went to Cole Dempster (Liftow p/b KW Cycling Academy), who beat newcomer Fergus Spitzley. Spitzley is new to cycling after being identified in the RBC Training Ground program, and has also won the Keirin at his first ever competition.
