The 2025 National Capital Region (NCR) Cycling Bursary recipients have been announced by the selection committee of Ross Knight, Doug Corner, Rob Orange and Jennifer Stephenson.

They are:

Carter deVeer ($3000)
Tristan Génier ($1500)
Dorothée Perron ($1000)

Carter deVeer
It has been an amazing year for Carter deVeer as a very versatile Cadet racer:

Provincial and National Cyclocross Champion 2024
7 National titles on the track
Grand Prix West Bohemia Stage 1 1st. GC + KOM jersey
OBC TT, Cadet Men, 15kms: 18:10 (new course record)
3rd at Preston Street in the Elite Men's race.

Carter has recently been signed to the European based Cannibal Bahrain Victorious Team for 2026 with a season goal of being selected to ride the 2026 World Championships in Montreal.

Tristan Génier
Tristan, a first year Junior, started racing as a U13. His focus is on mountain bike and cyclocross competitions. In 2025 he competed throughout Canada and came close to being selected for the World Championship team. For 2026 he plans to train and compete in Spain for February/March, followed by a training camp in British Columbia and, in the summer competition, Canada-wide Mountain bike events. He has a very well defined program for 2026 with a primary objective of being selected for the World Championships.

Dorothée Perron
With a focus on cyclocross, Dorothée has already experienced the thrill of being on the World Championship team, plus racing in some European World Cup events. As a new U23 athlete, she has set her goal to be selected to go back to Europe to compete in this higher level of competition. Her determination to succeed puts her in a good position.


Since its conception in the year 2000, the bursary has granted over $94,000.00 to local NCR athletes. The bursary committee would like to thank all the donors for their generous contributions that enable these athletes to have both the confidence of support and the financial means to compete at events beyond the local area.
