Highbury Ford, London, sponsor of last Saturday nights racing at the Velodrome. Have stepped up big time for the fundraising efforts at the new Track in London.

In the Lobby of the facility a new Ford Escape will be displayed over the next few months. The draw for the SUV will take place in October during the first 6 Day race of the season. Albert Coulier the 87 year old builder of the track said, "This is a big opportunity for the Velodrome", "I'm not sure but I think this is the first time this type of promotion has been done at a bicycle race in Canada".

"This promotion is only the first of many for the Velodrome", "We plan to have attractions at our Saturday night races every week", said Coulier.

Racing continues every Saturday night at the Velodrome at the London Gardens. On the Saturday night of the long weekend May 21st, a special invitational sprint night of competition will take place with Canadian & American sprinters taking part in a "Night of Speed". The Lap record is sure to drop below 8 seconds on the night. Regular racing for the London Track League & a team race will also be on the program. Racing starts at 7pm with the doors open at 5:30pm.

Pauls Bicycle Repairs from St. Thomas is the Corparate Sponsor for this Saturday nights bicycle races at the new Velodrome at the London Gardens.

Racers from Vancouver, Montreal, Detroit plus Chris Helwig, Simon Dearing, Amy Maher all from London, will be competing for the over $500.00 in merchandise supplied by the owner of the store Paul Fagan. "Indoor Bicycle racing is new to the area, so anything we can do to bring competitive racers to London is a bonus for our store in St. Thomas" said Fagan.

The Forest City Velodrome Association is promoting the racing. 87 year old Albert Coulier who built the facility indicated that, "we expect a solid field of riders that will light up the Boards". "We have 3 - 4 sprinters coming to try and break the track record for the Flying lap which will kick off the evenings racing" said Coulier.

General Admission Tickets are available at the Velodrome for $10.00 for adults, Seniors are $5.00, with children under 8 years old are free.
